Art Tech Raises $5M

TRLab, a New York-based tech startup focused on fine art, has raised US$5 million in seed funding. The round was led by Hivemind Capital Partners and OKX Ventures, with participation from HashKey Capital.

TRLab was founded in 2021 by Xin Li-Cohen and Audrey Ou, and has since partnered with major art institutions such as Vogue, the Calder Foundation, and Cai Guo-Qiang. The company uses an educational approach to make fine art and art history accessible to digital-centric audiences. With the new funding, TRLab plans to onboard more artists, expand its global reach, and integrate new technologies to improve the digital art collecting experience. The company's educational approach is based on the idea that learning should be fun and engaging. TRLab's projects use online learning, competitive challenges, and digital collectables to make fine art and art history accessible to a wide range of people.

For example, TRLab's partnership with the Calder Foundation created a multi-chapter digital experience that introduced participants from 60 different countries to the work of Alexander Calder. The experience included interactive games, educational videos, and a virtual exhibition of Calder's work. TRLab is also planning to release several new digital art experiences in the coming months, including an immersive digital art exhibition in November. These experiences will showcase the work of prominent artists and estates and will use the latest technologies to create engaging and interactive experiences. TRLab is a leading force in the digital art space, and its new funding will help the company continue to innovate and grow. The company's educational approach and its partnerships with major art institutions make it a valuable resource for anyone interested in learning more about fine art.
