Baltimore Carbon Capture Raises $3M

EDAC Labs, Baltimore, MD, raises $3M to scale carbon capture technology.

The Baltimore-based company uses electrochemistry to produce acid and base, which can be used for carbon capture and other applications. The funding will help EDAC Labs scale its technology to capture one ton of carbon dioxide per day by the end of 2024.

EDAC Labs' technology is low cost and operates at ambient temperature and pressure. This makes it a more efficient and scalable option than traditional carbon capture methods. The company is also working on applications for its technology in carbon-negative mining and ocean alkalinity enhancement.

The funding round was led by the Grantham Foundation for the Protection of the Environment. Angel investors also participated in the round.

  • The company's electrosynthesizer device produces acid and base at half the energy cost of traditional methods.
  • The device can be operated at ambient temperature and pressure, which makes it more efficient and scalable.
  • EDAC Labs' technology is compatible with a variety of carbon capture applications, including direct air capture, carbon-negative mining, and ocean alkalinity enhancement.

The funding from this round will be used to:

  • Scale up EDAC Labs' electrosynthesizer device to capture one ton of carbon dioxide per day.
  • Develop new applications for EDAC Labs' technology in carbon capture and other areas.
  • Expand EDAC Labs' team and operations.

EDAC Labs is a leading innovator in carbon capture technology. The company's low-cost, scalable technology has the potential to make a significant impact on the fight against climate change.
