MedTech Raises $1M+

inContAlert, a MedTech startup in Bayreuth, Germany, has raised EUR1.5 million in pre-seed funding to develop a sensor to measure the bladder filling level for incontinence patients. The round was led by High-Tech Gründerfonds and Carma Fund, with participation from Bayern Kapital and angels from the medical technology domain. The investment will be used to conduct studies, obtain the CE mark as a medical device, and prepare for market entry.

inContAlert was founded in September 2022 within the ecosystem of the University of Bayreuth. The company's technology is a wearable sensor that measures the bladder filling level and sends an alert to the user when a predefined level is reached. This helps patients to avoid urinary incontinence, which can be a major problem for people with neurogenic bladder disorders, such as spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, bladder cancer, or Parkinson's disease.

The company's long-term goal is to develop a sensor that can also be used to help children with bedwetting issues. Bedwetting is a common problem that can have a significant impact on children's self-esteem and quality of life. inContAlert's sensor could help children to stay dry at night and improve their quality of life. The company is currently in the process of conducting clinical trials and obtaining the CE mark. The company expects to launch its product in early 2024.
